Terms & Conditions


  1. The Millions of Reasons competition (Campaign) is run by Cerebral Palsy Alliance (ABN 45 000 062 288) (CPA, we or our). 

  2. Employees, directors and members of their respective families of CPA or any company involved in the operations of this Campaign are ineligible to enter.

  3. Campaign Key Dates:
    1. Entry Deadline: 29 September 2022 UTC 11pm. 
    2. Voting period: 29 September 2022 (UTC 6am) until 6 October 2022 (UTC 11pm).
    3. Winner announcement: 14 October 2022.

  4. By submitting an idea to enter this Campaign, you agree to be bound by these terms and conditions.

  5. We may cancel or amend the Campaign or these Terms and Conditions without prior notice. Any changes will be posted on the website

  6. Our decision in all matters to do with the Campaign will be final and no correspondence will be entered into.

  7. These Terms and Conditions are exclusively governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of New South Wales, Australia.


  1. The Campaign is open to anyone living with cerebral palsy, friends, family and supporters of someone living with cerebral palsy.

  2. Entrants under the age of 18 must receive parental or guardian consent to participate. The parent / guardian of the entrant must read and consent to be bound by these Terms & Conditions and submit an entry on behalf of the entrant.

  3. Entries submitted after the entry deadline will not be accepted.

  4. Entrants may submit as many individual entries as they wish and each entry will be judged separately.

  5. Entrants may submit an entry individually or as a group. For a group entry, the group leader will submit the entry on behalf of the group. By completing an entry form that includes your or the personal details of other people, you indicate that you are authorised to share their personal information.

  6. Entries must include your name, email (or that of the parent or guardian) and description of an original idea in 100 words or less. Optional supporting material such as a sketch, photo or video may also be submitted. The idea and any supporting material submitted must be the original work of the entrant or if it includes the work of another party, it is the sole responsibility of the entrant to secure permission from the owner to use this in their submission.

  7. Incomplete entries, entries that are defamatory, malicious, inappropriate, promotional or infringes a third-party’s intellectual property will not be accepted.

  8. CPA and/or its agents have absolute discretion to accept or reject any entry or to remove any entry already accepted without giving reasons for the decision.

  9. By submitting an entry, the entrant: 
      1. warrants that all information submitted by them is true, current, and complete. The entrant also warrants that the submitted entry is their original work and does not infringe the intellectual property rights, privacy, or any other rights of a third party or if it contains the work of another party, the entrant is authorised to use this in the submission;
      2. gives CPA a non-exclusive, perpetual, irrevocable licence to use and reproduce the entry in any way and agrees that CPA may use the entry in any way and across all mediums as it chooses;
      3. will indemnify the CPA from any claim in respect of their entry;
      4. to the extent permitted by applicable law, gives CPA their consent to any act or omission that would otherwise infringe on any moral rights they may have in and in relation to their entries, and undertake not to make any claim for infringement of any moral rights they may have in and/or in relation to their entries.

  1. CPA reserves the right to disqualify any entrant and/or entries which it believes have not been made in compliance with these Terms and Conditions or to disqualify any entrant found to have tampered with the entry process or the operation of the Campaign or to be acting in an unsportsmanlike or disruptive manner, or with intent to threaten, abuse or harass any other person. 

Submitting Confidential Information

  1. Entrants accept that any information they supply to CPA as part of the entry process might affect the outcome of any patent application they may wish to submit. CPA is not liable for any failed patent application or the consequences from that.

Public Voting and Judging Criteria

  1. The public will vote on their favourite ideas from all eligible entries received. The top 10 ideas receiving the most votes at the end of the voting period will be shortlisted for the judges’ assessment.

  2. Each individual (per IP address) may vote for more than one idea, but cannot vote for an idea more than once. Entrants may also vote for their own idea.

  3. CPA may disallow votes if it has reasonable grounds to suspect that fraudulent votes have been cast (e.g. use of software or other devices designed to make automated votes). We reserve the right to disqualify any entrant who engages in activity which could be designed to unfairly manipulate the outcome of the public vote.

  4. Shortlisted entries will be judged by a panel of 8 judges comprised of representatives with lived or professional expertise of (although the number of judges or a particular judge may change depending on the circumstances):
    1. cerebral palsy;
    2. medical research;
    3. biomedical engineering;
    4. accessible technology innovation; and
    5. marketing.

  5. Entries will be assessed by the judges based on the need, impact, reach and marketability of the idea.

  6. Deliberations of the judging panel remain confidential. All decisions made are final and no correspondence will be entered into on such matters.

  7. The judges reserve the right:
    1. to consider other eligible entries and to increase or decrease the amount of entries considered for the winning entry;
    2. not to award the prize if, in their view, the quality of entries is insufficiently meritorious when reviewed against the assessment criteria. 

The Winner and Prize

  1. The winning entry will be announced on 14 October 2022 on the WorldCPDay Facebook and Instagram pages. The winner will be notified by email.

  2. The prize for the winning entry is $5000 (USD). The prize money will be paid via wire or bank transfer depending on the locality of the winner. The Campaign administration team will contact the winner to arrange payment. The winner will be required to provide proof of identity and other relevant details to facilitate the payment. If the winner is under 18 years old, the prize money will be awarded to the winner’s parent or legal guardian.  

  3. If the winning entry was submitted as a group entry, the group will be contacted via the email address submitted with the entry. How the prize money is distributed within the group is at the group’s discretion.

  4. CPA reserves the right to select an alternative winner in the event that the winner is unable to be contacted.

  5. The winner may be required to take part in interviews and/or any other promotional materials and/or events if requested by CPA. 

  6. CPA may in its sole discretion refuse to provide the Prize, or seek its recovery, if the entrant is found to have breached these Terms and Conditions, committed fraud, acted dishonestly or in an inappropriate or improper manner.

Personal Information

  1. The collection and use of personal information contained in your entry will be conducted in accordance with the World CP Privacy Notice and CPA’sPrivacy Policy.
